trouble!

Over the last month Kate has developed some new talents, and learned many new ways to get into trouble! Some of these include...
Swinging on the hospital bed while visiting her new cousin Ashton
Making big messes at dinner time, then wiping the remains of her food in her hair (and everywhere else)
Climbing on everything! She has even learned how to stack things so she can reach higher!
And since taking her first steps she has experienced much trauma! This big goose egg happened this morning while she was attempting to chase me across the house, and she face planted into the baseboard! ouch!
I always say to Chad that it's a good thing she is so cute (especially when she is sleeping)! Because she can sure be a handful, especially when she cleans out every drawer in the house, but we sure love her!!!

Last week Chads Brother Travis and his wife Kristina added a new little boy to their family!

He is such a cute little baby and was born with lots of brown hair (Kate is jealous)
Here he is with Travis, right after his first bath! We are so excited to have a new little baby in the family. Congratulations Travis and Kristina! We love you guys!

hawaii

Chad and I just took a trip to my favorite vacation spot, Hawaii! We had a blast! His sweet aunt and uncle were generous enough to let us stay at their home, and gave us the insiders tour of Oahu, including the PCC! Our good friends Holly and Spencer joined us in our one week in paradise, it was amazing... (and did I mention that Kate stayed home with Grandma)
You can't leave Hawaii without getting a picture with the infamous tiki man at the Polynesian cultural center. Chad became quite enthralled with all of the tikis!

Some how my husband turned into a surf bum (as pictured above). But I have to say he does make a very handsome surf bum!
Holly and I loved lounging on the beach, waiting for the boys to return from their very long snorkeling adventures!
and here they are, getting ready to venture out for another good snorkel! (don't you love their matching outfits)
We had a blast at the Polynesian cultural center luau and night show! Yum!
Holly and I drove the boys crazy with all of our shopping, but the swap meet was definitely something that we could not miss!
We also enjoyed watching all of the Japanese tourists get washed away by the waves at Waikiki beach.
We spent some of our evenings watching the sun set on Sunset Beach, they are so beautiful!
We enjoyed an afternoon at the dole plantation, and shared our lunch with a peacock and a kitten! Oh and we also had pineapple ice cream of course!
One afternoon we drove in a figure eight around the entire island, stopping at all of the cool spots on the way. We hiked down some lava rock to watch the waves smash up against the side, it was really pretty! I have also developed a new addiction to Matsumotos Shave Ice! It was my favorite treat and I went there three times!
Turtle! Turtle! We saw tons of huge sea turtles on the north shore, I wanted to take a picture by them but the french environmentalist lady scolded me, so sorry guys this is the best I could get.
On our last day in Hawaii, Chad and I walked around the beautiful temple grounds and down the road to the beach, it is so gorgeous! We are so lucky to have such an awesome church, and also great friends and family! We were sad to leave, but also glad to get to be with Kate again. Sunday night we began our long trip back. After our red eye flight, Chads sweet cousin Michelle picked us up from the airport in Las Vegas and we began the long drive back, once we were about thirty seconds down the road in 110 degree weather we realized that the air conditioning in our car was broken, so we treked for six hours through the desert! But I would say it was well worth it for a trip to Hawaii! and good news... Kate is now sleeping through the night! Thanks to my wonderful mom and her magical skills! We are so lucky to have such generous family! Thanks again Greg and Jill, and Michelle for letting us stay with you guys, and my family for taking Kate all week! You are the best and we love you all so much!!!

big day for kate!

Today was quite the eventful day for our little family, Kate had surgery to put tubes in her ears because of all the ear infections she keeps having. We are hopeful that this will solve our little problem. Last night we weren't allowed to feed her anything past three a.m. and normally she eats every two or three hours during the night (I know I am insane, and everyone has something to say about this, ha ha). Needless to say, it was a very long night and Kate was quite upset when she woke up and was not immediately fed!
We both tried our best to keep her happy, which included Chad dressing up like a doctor and playing peek-a-boo to familiarize her with the operating room. The staff was so nice, they gave her the little crocheted blanket and doll, which she became quite attached to.
Overall the whole thing went really well and we were able to go home after a few hours. Once the anesthesia wore off she was back to her sweet happy self (and she got to eat!)
We love you sweet little Kate!

kate kate kate

What a sweet little sleeping angel!
Kate has learned that she has the talent to climb out of highchairs, exersaucers (no kidding), and many other baby accessories!
Since she has become a little more rambunctious we have started putting her on a leash j/k. (but notice her first pigtail on top of her head!)
What big eyes you have baby! (We have also begun putting things like swim bottoms on her head as well, ha ha)
and of course since she is officially a grown up (or so she thinks) she can now drive too!
We love you Kate!!!
