It has finally happened, Kate has turned one! She had quite the birthday celebration, and is still trying to recover. Unfortunately now she seems to think that every day is her birthday and she deserves extra special attention.

To kick off her birthday we moved her into the big girl carseat! now she thinks that she is the queen! we took her to the zoo and on the way there she got to watch movies and she was so amazed that a car ride could be so fun that she would not break her gaze.

Here is Kate finally at the zoo, and she is ready to go!

See the little black spot sitting on the log... (it's a monkey) and right after I took this picture that crazy monkey came flying right at Kate, and slammed into the glass. Surprisingly enough it scared me more than it scared her, but I have to admit, it was pretty funny!

What a big girl! Kate rode the ostrich on the "conservation carousel". She was pretty nervous at first to sit on the seat, but after she looked around and saw all of the big kids riding it she decided that since she is one now she better have fun riding it, and she did!

what trip to the hogle zoo wouldn't be complete without a picture by the famous lion drinking fountain. Im sure Kate was thinking "wow, what big teeth you have".

Kate is posing for her big girl zoo pictures, doesn't she look so cute!

Later that evening we met up with all of the family - even grandparents and great grandparents, at Brick Oven for dinner. Kate unfortunately had forfeitted her afternoon nap for the zoo, and by this time was feeling a little cranky. The only way to keep her satisfied was a flower balloon and a rootbeer sucker, yum!

Oh and since this was her birthday she figured that she could even dance on the table, and of course we had to let her. What a silly girl!

This is the first (and possibly the last) barbie cake that Kate will ever get. I spent hours making this blasted cake, and guess how much she ate...

None! unless you count the barbies hair. She pulled the barbie out of the cake and then proceeded to throw a fit. I guess that is what happens when you turn one and miss your afternoon nap. Its just a good thing she is so cute!

And here is my darling but grumpy birthday girl. She was not pleased that the pink frosting would not come off of her little fingers. Grandma had to quickly give her a little bath in the sink so she could open her presents!

And here is my proof that Kate was officially spoiled rotten! It is crazy how quickly the last year has gone by! We are so lucky to have little Kate in our family and we love her so much!!! I can't imagine how lonely and boring life would be without her, I think everyone needs a little Kate in their family! Happy Birthday little love!
