the diet

I officially began my first diet ever, and it is going surprisingly well. The diet goes like this... I drink an agave/lime drink three times a day and take a cayenne capsule with it which works as a cleanse and also speeds up your metabolism. Morning and night you drink and herbal tea with senna. A friend just recently finished this, she did it for five days and lost seven pounds, and a coworker did it for a week and lost thirteen pounds and so far she has kept it off. I am on day two and have lost a little over two pounds. I thought I would be starving the whole time but I really haven't been that hungry and I have tons of energy, its great! I need to get rid of my nursing school stress weight, and it seems to be working :) Speaking of which- I just began my fourth semester yesterday and I am so excited, I am in the OB class and it is my favorite, I love it!!! I may have found my niche in nursing, we will see. Well thats all for now, I will let you know how the diet turns out. Wish me luck!

final-ly

I am officially, and successfully done with my finals! and my third semester of nursing school is finally over! Two more to go and I will be a happy girl! I keep telling myself that this next semester will be much better because I like the subjects (mommies and babies) and the clinicals are only eight minutes away instead of an hour away. So things are looking good for me :) One week of freedom and i'm back at it once again.

nO dOuBt

Tonight me and my sister Abby went to the No Doubt concert. It was so much fun, and such a good break... right in the middle of finals. Ha ha probably not very wise but it was definitely worth it!
We both came to the conclusion that Gwen Stefani has an amazing voice! She sounds awesome in concert and I think she is even better in concert than on the radio.
This was the opening scene of No Doubt, good thing it was a pretty cool set because it took them over a half hour to set it up!

This was one of the songs No Doubt sang :)
A band called The Sounds opened for them first, I have never heard of them but they were pretty good.
Next came Paramore, which was also very amazing! They are also easily just as good in concert as they are on the radio. I really enjoyed listening to them!
Here is a little clip of Paramore. They did a really good job on this song... and all of their other songs. They sang alot of new songs that will be coming out on their album at the end of the summer :)
I had tons of fun, and I really enjoyed spending quality girl time with Abby!
(We also came to the conclusion that the two places you will find the weirdest people in Utah are at concerts, and at Lagoon!)

catch up!

Its been a very long time! So I will try to fill you in on what we have been up to in the last few months.
Kate has discovered dress ups, and mommy's shoes!
We have taken her to feed the ducks alot and she is learning not to be afraid of them, she is usually more interested in eating the bread than feeding them.
She has learned everything there is to know about shopping-unfortunately. Every time we are at the store now she says "buy it!". This probably has more to do with me telling her she cant open her treats until we buy it.
A little while ago we took her and Anna to the zoo and she went crazy, her favorite animals were the giraffes.
She has become very good at posing for the camera and looking so so cute!
Anna came over one night before easter and we dyed easter eggs, Kate was determined to make a very big mess! (Oh and in case you didnt notice she has learned to take her hair out and it always looks like a crazy mohawk.)
A few weeks ago a bunch of my friends and their hubbys were able to get together for a bbq. It was so fun and I am so lucky to have such good friends!
Ok now dont be terribly suprised that I havent posted anything since easter! But remember that holiday about a month ago... well here are our easter pics! Kate looks pretty tired, its probably because I had to wake her up to hunt for her easter basket, ha ha.
We got together with my whole family and had a fun easter party and an easter egg hunt. Kate found one of her favorite pals Jaydon.
Over the last few weeks we have given our yard a serious make over, which is a very big deal if you knew what it looked like before. We planted a ton of flowers in three different flower beds, and made a huge garden! I am so excited, and Kate has become a very hard worker :)

I took Kate to Thanksgiving Points petting zoo and she found her favorite animal... "the moo" She absolutely loves cows it is so funny. She will see a picture of a cow and start saying "moo" for the next three hours! It is so cute!
Mothers day was really fun, we were able to get together with each of our families. Kate and Cybil got a very long wagon ride and they loved it!
She also got to spend time with grandma swinging around, she would laugh so hard when the swing turned around, it was very cute!
The best part of my week was on Monday when I got home from a very stressful day at school my sweet hubby had cleaned the whole house, cooked dinner, got me flowers, wrote a card and rented a movie I had wanted to see forever! I was so happy and it totally made up for my bad day at school. (now I just need to get through the next two weeks of finals and I will be good).
I think im all caught up now, and hopefully it doesnt take me another two months to post!

... and vent some more

Wow, I must have alot of bottled frustration but I promise this is my last vent post. On monday I came home from school and the first thing that Chad says when I walk in the door is "Kate broke your glasses", I took a look and sure enough they were snapped in half! I just got them like three months ago! So today I took them back to the store and they informed me there was no way to fix them but luckily they could salvage the lenses so there goes 60$ thanks to Kate. After we went to sports authority to find something to put in Chads' easter basket and I turned around and Kate was gone! I have never lost her before but this was pretty bad, it took me and five of their employees ten minutes to find her! I was hysterical! She was over in the bike section and had found a Dora the Explorer bike and was trying to climb on it! What a little stinker. It is just a good thing she is so cute! ... Alright I feel much better. Hope you have a Happy Easter!

I need to vent!

This week has been absolutely insane!!! Last week I finished midterms, this week I have added another twelve hour clinical for my mental health/psych class on top of classes and my regular med/surg clinical, aahhh. Luckily I absolutely love what I am doing and everything I am learning so in the end it is worth it... right? I had the opportunity to do this new rotation at a youth center that specializes in helping teens cope and recover from severe mental illness. I had the chance to read the charts of these teens I am working with and it just broke my heart to learn that the majority of these children are there as a result of physical, mental and/or sexual abuse. This has been quite the eye opener for me, as I am very naive. I wish there was some way to fix their problems and make it all disappear, as I have been thinking about this the last few days it has made me realize how lucky I am to have parents who love me and raised me in the gospel, teaching me that I have worth and potential. You really take this for granted until you see what a life is like without loving parents, and without a strong spiritual and moral foundation. Secondly I have also discovered this week that besides the parents who should not have been blessed with children there are some really slimy and greedy people out there. Recently I have been attempting to sell some unwanted items on craigslist and ksl and I have received numerous scam emails! This makes me so frustrated, and the worst one was a man who claimed he was out of town at a conference and he wanted me to ship this item to nigeria for "his daughter". I am a very trusting person but I just did not feel good about this, he even generated his own confirmation of payment emails from pay pal and then had the nerve to be overly rude to me when I refused to ship the item!!! What a jerk! So word to the wise, if you want to sell something just meet face to face with the person. Oh and dont worry I did report him. Anyway, thanks for letting me vent, I just have alot to say and sometimes Kate does not make the best listener.

long time no post

hey everyone! long time no post, ha ha. life has been so so busy! I just finished midterms (and passed yay) so moving right along! chad is getting ready for finals soon and kate of course is always busy!!! we finally got a new computer, kate totally destroyed the last one by ripping out the power cord, and popping off keys so it was definitely time for a new one. we also decided to sell zoie, the chinchilla after she bit kate. so we are once again just a family of three, and very happy to be so. other than that there is not much new and exciting. We had some spare time and decided to take Kate to feed the ducks, at first she was nervous and wasnt sure what to think but once she figured it out she had alot of fun, I think her favorite part was eating the bread though. My guilt got the best of me a few weeks ago for not being able to spend enough time with kate so Chad and I took Anna and Kate to the zoo! they had so much fun!Kate has figured out how to shop! We are in trouble, she tries to grab as much as will fit in her arms and heads for the door. She definitely is all girl, you will never see her pick out boy toys (unless they are pink). It is so cute and we love it!
