... and vent some more

Wow, I must have alot of bottled frustration but I promise this is my last vent post. On monday I came home from school and the first thing that Chad says when I walk in the door is "Kate broke your glasses", I took a look and sure enough they were snapped in half! I just got them like three months ago! So today I took them back to the store and they informed me there was no way to fix them but luckily they could salvage the lenses so there goes 60$ thanks to Kate. After we went to sports authority to find something to put in Chads' easter basket and I turned around and Kate was gone! I have never lost her before but this was pretty bad, it took me and five of their employees ten minutes to find her! I was hysterical! She was over in the bike section and had found a Dora the Explorer bike and was trying to climb on it! What a little stinker. It is just a good thing she is so cute! ... Alright I feel much better. Hope you have a Happy Easter!

I need to vent!

This week has been absolutely insane!!! Last week I finished midterms, this week I have added another twelve hour clinical for my mental health/psych class on top of classes and my regular med/surg clinical, aahhh. Luckily I absolutely love what I am doing and everything I am learning so in the end it is worth it... right? I had the opportunity to do this new rotation at a youth center that specializes in helping teens cope and recover from severe mental illness. I had the chance to read the charts of these teens I am working with and it just broke my heart to learn that the majority of these children are there as a result of physical, mental and/or sexual abuse. This has been quite the eye opener for me, as I am very naive. I wish there was some way to fix their problems and make it all disappear, as I have been thinking about this the last few days it has made me realize how lucky I am to have parents who love me and raised me in the gospel, teaching me that I have worth and potential. You really take this for granted until you see what a life is like without loving parents, and without a strong spiritual and moral foundation. Secondly I have also discovered this week that besides the parents who should not have been blessed with children there are some really slimy and greedy people out there. Recently I have been attempting to sell some unwanted items on craigslist and ksl and I have received numerous scam emails! This makes me so frustrated, and the worst one was a man who claimed he was out of town at a conference and he wanted me to ship this item to nigeria for "his daughter". I am a very trusting person but I just did not feel good about this, he even generated his own confirmation of payment emails from pay pal and then had the nerve to be overly rude to me when I refused to ship the item!!! What a jerk! So word to the wise, if you want to sell something just meet face to face with the person. Oh and dont worry I did report him. Anyway, thanks for letting me vent, I just have alot to say and sometimes Kate does not make the best listener.

long time no post

hey everyone! long time no post, ha ha. life has been so so busy! I just finished midterms (and passed yay) so moving right along! chad is getting ready for finals soon and kate of course is always busy!!! we finally got a new computer, kate totally destroyed the last one by ripping out the power cord, and popping off keys so it was definitely time for a new one. we also decided to sell zoie, the chinchilla after she bit kate. so we are once again just a family of three, and very happy to be so. other than that there is not much new and exciting. We had some spare time and decided to take Kate to feed the ducks, at first she was nervous and wasnt sure what to think but once she figured it out she had alot of fun, I think her favorite part was eating the bread though. My guilt got the best of me a few weeks ago for not being able to spend enough time with kate so Chad and I took Anna and Kate to the zoo! they had so much fun!Kate has figured out how to shop! We are in trouble, she tries to grab as much as will fit in her arms and heads for the door. She definitely is all girl, you will never see her pick out boy toys (unless they are pink). It is so cute and we love it!

meet the newest member of our family...

A few nights ago while chad was at work I took Kate to the pet store to see the animals and she loved it! She went up to all of the animals cages and would wave and say hi, it was so cute. So yesterday we were watching my little sister Anna and she wanted to see Kate visit the pet store so we stopped by a little store on center street and again Kate went crazy, especially over this cute little chinchilla. So being my impulsive self I decided to bring our little friend home.So meet Zoie, she is a chinchilla. They are the funniest little animals, but she sure is quick and can jump pretty high. Kate loves having someone smaller than her in the house to play with.
So far she has been a really sweet and low maintanance pet to have around.

valentines in vegas

For Valentines weekend Chad and I took off to Vegas, it was such a fun and much needed break! We left Kate home and just relaxed. We visited the dental school in Vegas and got an idea of what we are in for. Friday night we went to a show and met up with Chad's cousins Trina and Jeff who had the same great idea as us! It was such a blast!
On Valentines day morning Chad surprised me by taking me to the Venician hotel and we went on the Gondola and got serenaded, It was so much fun! Then we spent the rest of the day just hanging out and going to the buffet and casino with Trina and Jeff.It was a little chilly but definitely warmer than Provo so no complaints. I wish that I could take a vacation like this every weekend!

a day in the life of kate

here are some cute pictures of kate that have been sitting on my camera and they are just so cute that I have to share!
I made the most of my break by discovering McDonalds play place- ha ha. I cant believe it took me so long! Kate loves it and I get a break... its great all around.

She also loves their ice cream cones once play time is over
This is the crazy doll that we got her for christmas and it actually pees in the diaper when you give her the "special juice". Kate has figured out the diaper changing routine thanks to her doll... we are not sure if this is a good thing just yet.
caught in the act! she knows where the good stuff is!
daddys girl! this picture makes him so proud!
This is kates favorite outfit- she picked it out herself!
this grocery cart/car is the only way we get grocery shopping done now days
this is what happens when daddy changes the diapers- they end up on the wrong end. Ha ha just kidding he does a great job with the diaper changes!

stress sucks

so obviously it has been awhile since my last post... I have lost the cord to my camera to upload my pictures (no thanks to kate I am sure). I just finished my second semester of nursing school and was so excited to have a break this week (especially from my stress level-thus the name of my post). To my dismay this week has been just as bad- I think my body just runs on stress. Last night I wound up with pink eye, lucky for me we have a nice family friend who happens to be a doctor. He came over to my parents and brought me drops but said "well after all the stress of finals its no wonder you got pink eye". I wonder what i'll get next week? After finishing the semester I have found a whole new list of things to stress myself out about, here are a few... 1. how do you discipline a one year old? 2. how do you keep your house semi clean with a one year old? 3. how do you get anything done with a one year old...and how do people with more than one child get anything done, if I cant even keep up with one!? I checked out some books on parenting this week and it has become one of lifes biggest mysteries to me! If anyone has suggestions for me that would be great! The solution I have found this week is to talk my sweet cousin in to watching her while Chad and I go to Las Vegas for the weekend :)
